The 2017/18 HEP team donating the proceeds from 2016/17 to SVP and Ana Liffey. From L to R: Justin Graffi, Hannah Gummeson, Maggie Vincent, PJ Retief, Rebecca Flynn, Noah Williamson, Charleen Salmon, Mike Curran, Madie Khalil, Prof Des Leddin, Farid Azadian, Faizal Raghavji, Dr. Patrick O'Donnell, Meg Crosby The Health Equity Team donating €200 each to both Ana Liffey and St. Vincent de Paul that was raised during the 2016/17 academic year. All proceeds of the HEP team go towards these organizations. As part of the St. Vincent de Paul Day Care Services to the homeless, they offer cooked meals which people can eat in their restaurant and food hampers which people can take away. St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) spends approximately €50,000 a year on food. Your donation to HEP fundraisers help with service provision that SVP provides. Below is a small list of the services: The approach to service provision is Person Centred, Non Directive and Non Judgemental. In keeping with the ethos of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul the Centre offers services that meet the needs of the whole person.
As written in my previous blog post, Ana Liffey is a national service that follows the harm reduction ethos and has a low threshold necessary to access care. On behalf of HEP, we want to thank everyone who has supported our events and allowed us to donate this money. Without the support from those in GEMS, we would not have been able to do this so THANK YOU to everyone. Charleen Salmon is a 1st year student in GEMS at the University of Limerick
