The Health Equity Program (HEP) is a collaborative group of University of Limerick Medical School students seeking to foster engagement and awareness of health inequity on a local, national and global levels. We strive to provide future health professionals an understanding of health delivery in underserved populations through educational opportunities and outreach. It is our goal to lead health engagement with vulnerable groups through partnership, and an empathetic and conscientious approach within our wider communities. The Health Equity Program (HEP) is one of the collaborating agencies of the Partnership for Health Equity (PHE) and shares its aim to improve access to primary healthcare for marginalized groups, including homeless persons, drug users, travelers, migrants, LGBTQ+ and others. To achieve this, HEP provides exposure to the issues relevant to the local community through observerships with partner organizations in Limerick and seminars lead by community figures.
